Memorial Day and a Meal

Memorial Day - Military - Persy's PlaceA day to honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America by serving in the military to protect our great country.  For those who have lost a loved one in service to our country, Memorial Day is a day of significant importance.  This day allows us to set aside time to give thanks for all we have because they gave their all. This was the original intent for the beginning of Memorial Day observance in the 1800’s.

The meaning of Memorial Day has grown to a day to honor and show our thankfulness for all who serve or have served in our country’s military. It has always been personal to me.  My dad, who was a WWII Veteran, served as a road engineer for the US Army. My Mom’s brother was a Marine and also served in WWII.  My nephew, David served in the US Army and did two Tours of Duty in Iraq.  Daryl is my nephew.  Currently serving his 13th year in the US Army, he landed in Afghanistan about 2 weeks ago. He will be away from his family for a year.  I have many other family members who have served in past wars, they are all my American heroes.

We have many friends who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces.   At Persy’s we want to honor those who have sacrificed to give us the freedom we have.  This Memorial Day, Persy’s Place would like to show a token of thanks by offering a free meal to all military personnel and veterans.  Please come in with your ID and we would like to show you our appreciation for your service by offering to you on the house one of the following:

The Yankee, All American Waffle, All American Pancakes, All American French Toast, Thanksgiving Sandwich or the Thanksgiving Wrap.

It is important to remember and give respect to the families who have lost loved ones in service to our country.  Maybe to sit down and have some conversation about their service over a good meal is one small way to do this.  Thank you to all who have served.  Your willingness to give your time and even your very life for us to have our freedoms is what makes our county such a great place.
